A Life Dedicated to Children

Sonya Lanzen-Castellanos has spent her life seeking to help children maximize their learning potential. In addition to her extensive experience as a preschool and elementary school teacher, she has been involved in teacher training and parent education. In San Luis Obispo County, she was previously Director/Teacher at the Cambria Cooperative Preschool. She then served as Child Development Supervisor and and later administered the county-wide Head Start and Migrant Preschool Programs. She trained teachers to qualify for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Competency-based Teaching Credential Award.

A Life Dedicated to Children

Ms. Lanzen-Castellanos obtained her Child Development degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and holds California Standard Teaching Credentials in Early Childhood, Elementary, Community College and Adult Education. She has trained with the Los Angeles Chuo Gakuen Japanese Language and Cultural Arts School, the Los Angeles Institute of Music and Art, and the World Montessori Educational Institute, San Luis Obispo.

She is a violinist with the San Luis Obispo County Symphony and has performed with the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts Orchestra.
